CDH Investment Bank seeks to recruit a suitable candidate for the position of Account Relationship Officer – 2 positions.
Background of the organization
CDH Investment Bank is licensed under the Banking Act by the Reserve Bank of Malawi to provide banking services. The Bank opened for business on 2nd April 2012 and operates banking centres in Blantyre and Lilongwe. The Bank invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Account Relationship Officer (2 positions), tenable at Blantyre Banking Centre and Capital City Banking Centre in Lilongwe.
Organizational context
The position reports to the Corporate Account Relationship Manager in all respects.
Nature and scope of the position
- The Account Relationship Officer will be responsible for supporting the relationship manager in managing corporate segregated portfolio of assets and liabilities in the corporate banking segment and supporting recruitment of new business by cross selling various CDHIB products and services.
- The Account Relationship Officer’s performance will be measured based on pre-agreed targets and benchmarks. The incumbent will be expected to exercise greater skill, diligence and due care in the performance of his/her duties.
Key responsibilities
- Support a portfolio of corporate banking clients
- Sales:
- Identify and meet with potential new clients and develop effective marketing strategies in order to maximise the Bank’s coverage of specific medium enterprises and high net worth individuals.
- Cross-sell financial, treasury, commercial banking and investment banking opportunities.
- Prepare indicative proposals, negotiation of subsequent term sheets and related documentation.
- Prepare financing proposals on behalf of borrowing clients and ensure that they are approved in line with CDHIB laid down rules.
- Write good analytical portfolio reports, call reports and ad hoc papers based on market intelligence.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by management from time to time.

- Must be motivated for sales, dynamic and a fast learner.
Qualification and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in administration, commerce, marketing, finance, banking or its equivalent
- At least 5 years experience in banking/business development in a financial sector
- Knowledge of branch and general banking operations is a prerequisite.

The position offers a remuneration package and benefits commensurate with its seniority, level of skills and experience.
