Key Responsibilities:
- Manage payroll processing in compliance with the PAYE, Pension, and TEVET Acts.
- Submit monthly financial reports in line with Reserve Bank of Malawi requirements for microfinance institutions.
- Post accounting journals and ensure timely, accurate financial data entry.
- Maintain and reconcile petty cash system.
- Oversee loan book management and ensure accurate recording of transactions.
- Ensure proper use of accounting software, including Sage Pastel, and loan management software.
- Reconcile bank accounts and ensure timely reporting of cash flow.
- Handle tax filings and other statutory financial requirements.
- Preparing financial statements in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
- Developing and monitoring of strategies and budgets
- Collaboration with regulators and external auditors
Other Duties
- Handling HR and Administrative functions of the company
- Perform any other tasks assigned from time to time.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years experience working as an accountant, ideally in a microfinance, SACCO, or financial institution setting.
- Working knowledge of accounting software such as Sage Pastel and loan book management software.
- A diploma in accounting or related field.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Understanding of policies, systems & procedures, Malawi legislation, and Reserve Bank of Malawi Directives.
