Organisational Context
Stephanos Foundation is a Reformed Christian Non-Governmental Organisation based in Chilangoma, Chileka, Blantyre. Taking care of orphans and vulnerable children in various programmes, such as an orphanage, daycare centre, nursery and primary school, vocational training centre, and outreach projects. The initiative for the Foundation started in The Netherlands and was established in Malawi in 1994.
Stephanos Foundation is registered with CONGOMA and NGORA.
Currently Stephanos Foundation has three vacancies; Primary School Head Teacher, Primary School Teacher, and Agriculture & Agribusiness Instructor.
POST: AGRICULTURE AND AGRI-BUSINESS INSTRUCTOR
Reporting to: The Principal
Level: Middle Staff Member
Overall purpose
To teach Agriculture and Agri-Business learners and impart them with practical skills of the same, and evaluate their performance
Duties & responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
- Develop schemes of work and lesson plans
- Assign and grade class work, tests and assignments
- Supervise the performance of apprentices and provide moral support to create conducive learning environment
- Motivate and evaluate every student to comply with the required standards of performance
- Making sure that the Agriculture stuff to be taught agrees with the examining trades board
- To ensure that curricula development is done in close liaison with relevant authorities, fellow instructors and the Principal
- To be a custodian of trade tools, Agriculture classroom and materials
- To ensure enough supply of tools and materials at all costs
- To enforce school regulations and cleanliness together with fellow instructors
- Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development
- End of term stock taking with the VTC Storekeeper and reporting any irregularities urgently
- Enforcing Tevet students’ code of conduct
- Abiding by Tevet Instructor code of conduct
Job specifications
- Bachelors’ Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or Horticulture
- Or Diploma, with three years’ work experience
