Role
ETG Climate Solutions is looking for a dedicated Project Manager to oversee our agroforestry carbon project. The Project Manager will be responsible for initiating and implementing all aspects of our first agroforestry carbon project including developing project strategy and approach, managing human and financial resources and ensuring compliance with relevant agricultural/environmental regulations. The Project Manager may also lead on scoping for potential landscapes to develop additional agroforestry projects within Malawi.
Duties and Responsibilities
Core duties include but are not limited to:
- Directly supervise all project staff
- Initiate and coordinate with implementing partners, local communities, government agencies and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with market partners to develop cash crop value chains
- Support the development and implementation of carbon documentation and carbon compliance for the project
- Develop and supervise compliance with organizational and national policies and procedures
- Coordinate all project activities within the landscape for carbon, agroforestry and cookstoves, including monitoring, training, nursery and extensionist operations
- Coordinate the procurement of all materials and inputs necessary for implementation of the project
- Manage project resources including labor, machinery and vehicles
- Produce quality deliverables on time to ensure they meet milestones per their scope, timeline, and budget
- Provide regular detailed technical, financial and programmatic reporting as required
- Prepare all annual budgets and workplans
- Lead on developing possible new phases of the project
- Represent and advocate for the project in various events or activities as needed
- Lead on research trials for agroforestry systems
- Lead on the scoping activities for new agroforestry project areas as well as agroforestry designs within Malawi
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in agroforestry, agriculture, forestry, environmental science, or a related field (master’s preferred)
- A minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in leading a project team implementing a large-scale agroforestry or agricultural (or related natural resources project) in Malawi
- Strong understanding of agroforestry and sustainable farming practices in Malawi
- Experience working closely with local government offices and village leadership in rural development programs/ projects in Malawi
- Experience in project delivery and management related to voluntary carbon schemes will be an added advantage.
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people, including local communities, government agencies and international project teams
- Experience in building complex program strategies and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a time sensitive manner
- Experience in developing and implementing monitoring & evaluation for a project
- Demonstrated ability to raise substantial additional funds over the project life cycle
- Skilled in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Fluent in English (both speaking and writing)
