Job Description

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

The Assistant Physiotherapist will support the provision of high-quality physiotherapy services within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) that includes Occupational Therapy Technicians, Social Workers, and other professionals. The center provides services such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, developmental assessments, and psychosocial support for children. The role involves both clinical practice at the center and community-based rehabilitation (CBR) work in collaboration with the MDT, offering therapies and caregiver training.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Support:
    • Assist the Lead Physiotherapist in planning and delivering physiotherapy treatments in coordination with the MDT (Occupational Therapy Technicians, Social Workers).
    • Participate in developmental assessments, individual and group therapy sessions, and occupational therapy programs.
    • Provide hands-on physiotherapy treatments to patients.
    • Work alongside the MDT to deliver holistic care, addressing physical, developmental, and psychosocial needs.
  2. Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR):
    • Participate and support MDT in CBR activities by providing therapies to differently abled children, psychosocial support services in the community, conducting disability awareness programs in the community.
    • Assist in delivering caregiver training on basic rehabilitation techniques, focusing on empowering families in managing disability at home.
    • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions in community settings, ensuring continuity of care from the clinic to the home environment.
  3. Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
    • Participate in MDT meetings and contribute to case discussions, offering input from a physiotherapy perspective.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of patient assessments, treatments, and progress, in collaboration with other MDT members.
  5. Patient Care and Education:
    • Provide education to patients and caregivers on physiotherapy exercises, mobility techniques, and lifestyle modifications.
    • Educate families on managing disabilities and enhancing the independence of children through CBR.
  6. Professional Development:
    • Participate in workshops and training sessions on rehabilitation, therapy techniques, and community engagement.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Diploma in Physiotherapy or related qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of practical experience in a clinical or community-based rehabilitation setting. Experience working within an MDT is an advantage.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with various professionals (Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, etc.).
    • Good understanding of physiotherapy, rehabilitation principles, and working in a team-based environment.
    • Ability to work effectively in both clinical and community settings.
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
    • Basic computer skills for documentation and record-keeping.
