Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Day to day planning, organizing, supervising and executing of activities on the Poultry Farm.
  • Managing the Broiler Farm and taking care of Broiler Chickens from brooding to maturity.
  • Feed formulation and management.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure broilers meet safety and quality standards.
  • Maintaining safe working practice and adherence to biosecurity measures
  • Maintain accurate records of production, inventory, and any incidents or issues.
  • Experience in monitoring and maintaining animal health.
  • Ensuring the quality of the farm’s output, meeting health and safety regulations, and maintaining a sustainable and profitable farm operation.
  • Visiting the poultry cages to inspect livestock and ensure appropriate amounts of feed and water are available at all times.
  • Check the requirements of equipment for farming like brooders, various kinds of feeders and drinkers etc
  • Ensuring all farm staff adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Strict daily record keeping.
  • Other duties assigned from time to time.

ATTRIBUTES:

  • A minimum of a Diploma in Animal or Poultry Science, or Food Science, Animal Health and Production or equivalent with 3 Years+ or more experience in a busy Broiler farm.
  • Knowledgeable and traceable experience of poultry feed formulation with best techniques.
  • Management experience in poultry farming would be a plus.
  • Must possess a demonstrable passion for poultry farming.
  • Candidate should be willing to relocate to or already residing in Blantyre, Chilomoni.
  • Have a good understanding of the poultry farming business and trends.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of farming best practices specifically poultry farming practices to increase farm output.
  • Problem-solving skills to react quickly and appropriately to farm emergencies.
  • Self-motivated with the capacity to work both independently as well as with minimum supervision.
  • Be familiar with animal health codes, laws, and any other relevant regulations etc. and must have a strong sense of personal ethics.
