BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER – MZUZU

Job specification

  • Business Development Planning – Based on allocated targets, identifying and analysing business growth opportunities, and developing appropriate strategies for business growth.
  • Business development, growth, and customer acquisition – Setting prospects priorities and service standards to achieve new business, ensuring that acquisition initiatives and targets are met, generating proposals that increase value to the company, and soliciting and following up on sales pipelines.
  • Client service support – Post sales servicing of new business clients, ensuring adherence to client service level agreements, provision of advisory services to existing and prospective clients, and ensuring resolution of clients’ complaints and queries.
  • Business intelligence – Reporting on market intelligence, conducting research on products and service offerings, identifying product and service gaps in the market.

REQUIRED SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • A self-starter and self-motivated individual.
  • Results driven
  • Analytical logical thinker with good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work on a wide range of deliverables at the same time.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to plan and organise in line with job requirements.
  • Excellent negotiation skills

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A first university degree in Commerce, Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or any of the Social Sciences from a reputable and recognized university.
  • A good understanding of general insurance business.
  • At least four (4) years’ experience in Business Development role
