VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS

CIC Africa Malawi offers General Insurance and Life Assurance services with a special focus on innovation and excellence in service delivery. The company seeks to recruit dynamic sales people to join this winning team as Business Development Officers tenable in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu.
Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the Business Development Officers will be responsible for generating revenue for the Company as well as building and managing strong customer relationships and partnerships within the assigned markets or channels.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sourcing and procuring of new business in line with organizational targets
  • Liaising with the underwriting department to produce competitive quotations for prospective customers
  • Identifying credible brokers, agencies and banks to partner with the organization
  • Training and supporting intermediaries in respect to organization’s products.
  • Ensuring that existing accounts are renewed to improve business retention
  • Preparation of tender documents and submission in line with the tender requirements
  • Assisting in introduction of new products and promoting them through regular visits and frequent communcation with intermediaries, existing clients and prospects
  • Delivering excellent customer service by effectively handling queries and complaints from clients promptly.
  • Establishing and maintaining regular contact with current and prospective clients
  • Providing timely, up-to-date information and reports to management regarding the status of the business development initiatives in terms of execution.
  • Collating and presenting relevant market intelligence with a view to possibly enhance internal competitive advantages.

MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a business related course or equivalent from a reputable institution
  • Professional qualification in Insurance or demonstrate significant progress towards attainment of the same • Minimum two (2) years’ relevant experience
  • Experience in working with cooperatives or SACCOS will be an added advantage
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite
  • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data
  • Strong people engagement and influencing skills with the ability to build relationships, communicate, present, negotiate and resolve conflicts.
