The Times Group is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of Business Manager – Times Courier.
THE BUSINESS UNIT – TIMES COURIER SERVICES LIMITED
Times Courier Services Limited is a domestic national courier company in Malawi. Times Courier Services Limited, a subsidiary of The Times Group, aims to provide reliable courier service by offering Fixed Day, Customised and door-to-door courier services while contributing to the growth of the economy.
THE JOB
The position holder will take charge of the business unit and provide leadership in implementing Times Courier business plans guided by the business strategy. He/she will be responsible for spearheading the performance and operations of the courier business. The following are the expected deliverables for the job holder:
- Leading the implementation of Times Courier Business Plan to ensure optimal growth of the unit in pursuit of the annual budgetary plans
- Overseeing operations of Times Courier, ensuring efficiency and profitability
- Driving business growth and expansion through market analyses and new business opportunities
- Designing and managing routes for value wage increase and market share growth
- Develop, implement and monitor policies, procedures and systems for warehousing, parcel handling and delivery, parcel tracking and customer service
- Managing budgets, financial reports, and key performance indicators
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and company standards
- Leading and motivating the Courier team, fostering a positive work environment
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and partners
- Building and maintaining the Times Courier Brand
THE PERSON
The Business Manager will have progressive experience in developing and implementing strategic business plans in either of the following – courier, logistics, warehousing, sales operations and supply chain. The ideal candidate MUST meet the following requirements:
- Effective leadership skills including ability to motivate teams Excellent organisation skills and ability to meet deadlines Must be able to think analytically and strategically
- Experience in setting up a business and building an organisation’s reputation for thought leadership
- Experience in sales pitching for business growth Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft tools Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in either of the following: Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and Business Management
