Job Description
The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited is incorporated under the Companies Act of the Laws of Malawi. Its core business is to procure, transmit and distribute electric power in Malawi as well as managing System Market Operations and Single Buyer licensees in Malawi. ESCOM is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position currently existing within the Corporation.
Business Transformation Manager (1 Position)
Grade: ES4
Location: Head Office – Blantyre
Supervised by : Chief Operations Officer
Purpose of the Job
To drive and oversee the strategic transformation initiatives aimed at enhancing the ESCOM’s operational efficiency, network reliability, and overall performance. This role involves identifying areas for improvement, developing and implementing change management strategies, and ensuring alignment with ESCOM’s mission to supply electricity for sustainable development.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Continually identifying opportunities to innovate and improve business processes and practices.
- Providing advice and guidance regarding the best use of corporate application systems enabling the business to maximize efficiency and effectiveness to improve service delivery and customer focused outcomes.
- Managing the overall business transformation program in collaboration with key stakeholders and business sponsors.
- Providing advice and guidance regarding the best use of corporate systems enabling the business to maximize efficiency and effectiveness using modern technology and business models.
- Measuring business outcomes achieved for each approved business undertaking in relation to productivity, efficiency and savings.
- Leading, developing and promoting a culture of continuous improvement which empowers staff to think innovatively and to challenge the status quo directly supporting organizational values.
- Ensuring business transformation initiatives and projects and implements change management principles and framework in accordance with the Corporation’s requirements.
- Designing and delivery of business improvement projects on time, to budget and to quality results
- Ensuring sound risk management governance and principles are applied for business transformation projects.
- Ensuring that positive relationships are established and maintained with relevant stakeholders and vendors.
- Conducting training sessions for employees on new procedures or programs to ensure that they are able to use them effectively.
- Determining how to allocate resources within the organization to meet Corporation’s goals and objectives
- Analyzing business data to determine where improvements can be made to increase efficiency or effectiveness of processes
- Coordinating with ICT teams to design and develop new systems or processes
- Managing business transformation reporting framework to ensure regular reporting to the executive management and the Board on projects and initiatives ensuring capture of benefits realization, risks, resourcing, benefits, and cost savings that are quantified and qualified.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- The ideal candidate must possess a minimum qualification of a Master’s Degree in Engineering/Economics/Strategic Management/Business Administration.
- Applicants must have at least 7 years of work experience in a similar role, with a minimum of 3 years at a manager level in Business or process transformation/Strategic Management/Change Management/ Innovation/Project Management or related work.
- Candidates should be registered with a relevant professional body.
