Job Description
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Chief Finance Officer will be responsible for managing and leading the Finance function of the Bank, to ensure the management and control of the bank’s financial position, the fulfillment of internal and external regulatory requirements, the production of financial budgets, forecasts, statements, and reports, and the provision of feedback on the Banks financial position.
Key Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:
- Lead the finance function of the Bank and manage finance staff
- Monthly financial and Management Accounting
- Submission of returns to the Reserve Bank of Malawi
- Production of half-yearly and annual financial statements
- Annual financial budgets and forecasts
- Revise and update financial policies.
- Tax compliance, procurement, and payments policy custodian
- Membership in various committees of the bank.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills/Competencies:
- Master’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, Banking and Investments Management, Business Administration or a related field.
- Chartered accountant certification (ACCA or CIMA)
- (It is also a requirement that candidates also possess a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in the areas highlighted under Masters.)
- At least 10 years of relevant experience, of which 5 years at the senior management level in a regulated financial institution
- Leadership skills to a high level for a large department
