Telekom Networks Malawi Plc (TNM) is looking for a suitably qualified person to join our team as a Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer.

To drive this vision forward, TNM is seeking to recruit a Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer (CHRAO) through a competitive and transparent executive search and recruitment process. This is a unique opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Malawian professional to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping TNM’s future.
This is a very challenging and exciting high-profile position requiring the services of a multi-skilled, highly motivated, self-driven, versatile and pragmatic HR practitioner with leading-edge skills in all aspects of Global Best-Practice HR delivery. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be part of the executive management team tasked with the important role of strategically repositioning the Company’s human resources portfolio and modernising its human resource policies, systems and practices towards enhancing its HR service quality and value to the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Human Resources Leadership:
- Develop and implement HR and administrative strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Drive the TNM culture of performance excellence; maintain and assure accountability.
- Collaborating with division executives to plan and define talent requirements for expansion, diversification, or restructuring in line with budget targets and business goals.
- Provide guidance to the executive team on organizational structure, workforce planning, grading and scales, HR policies and best practices, disciplinary cases, and motivational initiatives.
Human Capital Management:
- Manage and update all HR policies in line with CEO and Board of Directors’ objectives and directions.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract top talent.
- Assure fair and equitable recruitment, staffing and promotion processes.
- Design competitive compensation and benefits packages, including health and life insurance, in line with the market and TNM business objectives, subject to CEO and Board of Directors’ approvals.
- Foster employee engagement by designing, administering, and analysing staff engagement surveys; and developing strategies and initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction in liaison with the CEO.
- Act as the Principal Officer to the TNM Pension Fund in line with Fund rules, Fund Deed and Regulations.
- Ensure that pension fund decisions align with legal and fiduciary responsibilities, legal requirements and ethical standards.
- Ensure compliance with Malawi labour laws, industry regulations and good governance practices.Organizational Development:
- Align employee development through robust training and mentoring.
- Develop and implement succession plans to ensure a pipeline of talent for leadership and key roles.
- Champion diversity and inclusion across the organization.
- Be a key change agent and drive change management initiatives to support business and organizational transformation.
- Monitor and enhance organizational health and employee engagement metrics; run timely and effective engagement surveys, feedback and programs
Administrative Oversight:
- Ensure the smooth operation of administrative services, including facilities management, office space and office services.
- Establish comfortable and enjoyable work environment that supports employee well-being and optimal productivity.
- Optimize resource allocation to balance cost efficiency with operational excellence.
- Oversee the development and implementation of health, safety, and security policies.
Performance Management:
- Enhance performance management systems, with efficient and timely assessments to help develop employees, departments and the business as a whole.
- Establish and track key HR and administrative performance indicators (KPI’s).
- Ensure ethical standards and TNM values are upheld throughout the organization.
- Present regular and comprehensive reports to the executive team and the Board of Directors’ Appointments and Remuneration Committee.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A Master’s Degree from a recognized institution in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or any other relevant field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a busy human resource or business management environment at a senior level
- Knowledge of Malawi Employment and Labour Laws.
