Community Development Intern

Position Overview:
The Community Development Intern will play a critical role in piloting the Bungwe.io platform, ensuring it meets the needs of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) during its development phase. The intern will engage directly with target users, collect valuable feedback, and work closely with the development team to refine the platform. This role requires strong communication skills, an understanding of community development dynamics, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pilot Coordination and User Engagement:
- Identify and engage target CBOs to participate in the Bungwe.io pilot phase.
- Facilitate user onboarding and training on the platform.
- Organize focus groups, interviews, and workshops to gather user feedback.
- Feedback Collection and Analysis:
- Collect qualitative and quantitative feedback on user experience and platform functionality.
- Analyze data to identify trends, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Present feedback reports to the development team for integration into platform updates.
- Support Development Team:
- Act as a liaison between users and developers, ensuring effective communication of user needs.
- Assist in testing app functionalities to ensure usability, accessibility, and relevance for CBOs.
- Collaborate on developing user guides, tutorials, and support materials.
- Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track pilot performance indicators, such as user adoption rates and platform engagement.
- Prepare progress reports highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
- Capacity Building and Training:
- Support the delivery of capacity-building workshops for CBOs on digital tools and organizational management.
- Assist in customizing platform features to align with specific sector needs (e.g., health, agriculture, education).
- Community Outreach and Networking:
- Develop partnerships with CBOs, NGOs, and relevant stakeholders to enhance platform adoption.
- Represent Phukira and Bungwe.io at community development forums and events.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education:
- A bachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing) in Community Development, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including rural community organizations.
- Proficiency in basic digital tools (Microsoft Office, Google Suite) and an eagerness to learn app functionalities.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in data collection and reporting.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Experience (preferred but not required):
- Prior experience working with community development programs, NGOs, or social enterprises.
- Exposure to piloting digital platforms or tools within communities.
