Entry package: MK396,000 per month.

Girls Empowerment Network as subrecepient has received funding to implement the HIV prevention module targeting high risk AGYW (15-29 years) and their male sexual partners in Mulanje district.

The funding is from Global fund through world vision as PR and the project will be implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

The AGYW project seeks to scale up integrated HIV, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Gender Based Violence (GBV) services (i.e. HIV Testing Services including self-test kits, PrEP, PEP, Condoms & Lubricants, VMMC referrals, Family Planning Services, STI screening and management, Cervical Cancer Screening, GBV Services, and Mental Health (Psychosocial Support Services) as a novel strategy to reach the medium to high risk AGYW (15-29) and their male partners.

It is against this background that Mulanje District Council(DHO) seeks to support the recruitment of qualified community health workers to provide the integrated HIV/SRHR/GBV services to AGYW and their male partners in mapped medium to high incidence locations, to complement the established facility based health workers.

The Community health workers will be hosted at Girls Empowerment Network for the whole project cycle but will be attached to the DHO, and work under supervision, coaching and mentoring of Mulanje DHO

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The CHWs will report to the Project Coordinator/Officer, and shall be responsible for providing integrated HIV/SRHR/GBV services through mobile outreach clinics as well as MoH facilities. The position will also directly strengthen referral and linkage to care and other services.

The essential duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Responsible for all logistics and daily operations related to outreach clinics targeting AGYW and their partners (including linking them to care)
  2. He/She will directly support the service delivery team in HIV prevention programs strengthen referral and linkage services.
  3. Providing direct supervision to program community groups and cadres (i.e. peer educators, peer navigators, male champions and condom riders)
  4. Working in MOH clinics as needed providing integrated HIV/SRHR/GBV services including HIV testing and identifying index cases.
  5. Collaborating with health facility in-charges to ensure availability of adequate services and of health commodities during outreach clinics.
  6. Supervising and mentoring community support groups/clubs and peer cadres including male champions and condom riders to develop goals and interventions to increase access to integrated services for AGYW and their partners.
  7. Supporting the program and DHO in effective management and documentation of referrals that meet AGYW healthcare needs.
  8. Completion of reports required by the programme.
  9. Participating in relevant TWG meetings at district and national level to promote understanding and support of program services.
  10. Maintaining client’s confidentiality, trust and confidence
  11. Ordering of HIV test kits, condoms, and other consumables for use during clinical outreach in a timely manner to make sure that there is uninterrupted delivery of services.
  12. Ensuring accurate and timely documentation of all services provided.
  13. Ensuring proper disposal of biohazardous wastes.

EDUCATION AND CORE COMPETENCIES
Diploma or Certificate in nursing, community health, or other health related field from a recognized institution.
At least 1 years of experience working with AGYW and their male sexual partners
Strong knowledge of HIV, SRHR, and GBV issues and services
Excellent communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Fluency in local language(s) and English Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

  2. Improved and strengthened referral system as well as linkages to treatment and care
  3. Strengthened documentation and reporting deliverables as per the performance monitoring plan (PMP)
  4. Improved collaboration with MOH at district and facility levels.
