Job Description

Good Neighbors International (GNI) is an international humanitarian and development organization
in General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC) with its headquarters in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Good Neighbors implements various
community development projects within the following sectors; Health, Education, Water and Sanitation, Agriculture and Social Welfare (advocacy for children’s rights other livelihood projects
and emergency response. In order to efficiently and effectively execute its duties, GNI is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following existing vacant position as follows:

Job Title: Data Officer (x1)

Location: Head Office (Lilongwe)

Reporting to: Design, Monitoring and Evaluation Manager

The Data Officer will provide technical support in digitization efforts with DME department. He / She will primarily be responsible for Cookstove and will be required to support other M&E activities. Under the supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, Data Officer is expected to develop
a comprehensive implementation workplan and targets for mobile App activities and provide monthly data feedback to department and project teams. The Cookstove Data Officer is expected to serve for a period of 1 year with potential for extension dependent on funding and performance.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop digitization and analysis workplan in consultation with DME Manager and ensure that the emergency relief project aligns with its targeted deadlines.
  • Accurate develop and test all databases plus any relevant reporting tools
  • Perform rigorous project data monitoring, cleaning and field-level error reconciliations jointly with other team members to ensure that the data is of integrity and high standards of quality.
  • Develop comprehensive SOPs for all digital platforms and ensuring that these are followed accordingly
  • Develop comprehensive data gathering tools which is thoroughly reviewed by all stakeholders and ensuring that appropriate protocols are adhered to.
  • Ensuring that all stakeholder feedback on digital platforms is incorporated into the digital platforms
  • Perform data systems integration like integration of DHIS2 or OHSP or data warehouse with Commcare
  • Conduct regular database reviews with the project, program teams and partners
  • Compiling data to contribute towards strategic decision-making, Knowledge management,
    sharing best practices and project planning with program team
  • Work collaboratively with DME Officer and other stakeholders to have all systems run effectively.
  • Conduct trainings to programs and project teams and partners
  • Conduct basic data quality activities for the project and ensuring that data is reviewed at regular basis.
  • Support reporting plus any other duties as assigned by DME Manager

Academic Qualifications and Relevant Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related professions from accredited institution.
  • At least 3 years of experience in database development using SQL, MySQL or advanced MS Access with 2 years of extensive mobile App development using Commcare.
  • Expert in API development and systems integration will be an added advantage.
  • Adept to digital platforms like DHIS2, DHIS2 trackers like OHSP with extensive mobile Apps development like Commcare and Google Apps
  • Familiarity with development of data visualizations and interactive dashboards especially Power BI desirable. Other visualization systems like Tableau, Domo or Zoho Analytics etc maybe considered.
  • Candidates with prior Commcare training and or Power BI training or experience will have an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with statistical software like R, Python, SPSS, STATA, MS Excel will be desirable.
  • Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Willingness to continually improve technical and analytical competencies and desire to learn and grow professionally.
  • Ability to embrace Good Neighbors International values and ability to prioritize and execute activities with prudence to achieve project goal.
  • Ability to multitask, leadership, coordination, mentorships and supervision skills.
  • Experience in Cookstove, Biochar, Education, VSL, Health and WASH will be a plus
