Job Description

Malawi Posts Corporation is a Statutory Corporation established by an Act of Parliament, the Communications Act of 1998. Its mission is to provide easily accessible, reliable, high quality and affordable postal and financial services to meet the customers’ unique needs through a well-
established country and worldwide network.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following posts tenable at MPC Head Office on Glyn Jones Road, Blantyre:

DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING

THE JOB

The Business Development and Marketing shall report directly to the Postmaster General. His/her responsibility shall be to lead all business development efforts within the organization, including the development and implementation of business development strategies and activities. He/she shall also be responsible for evaluating the existing partnerships and sales efforts and providing strategic and tactical advice to stakeholders on how to maximize MPC’s commercial position and opportunity conversion while managing key customer relationships and building new ones. The Head of Business Development & Marketing shall be a member of the executive management and shall play a critical role in the implementation of the MPC’s turn-around strategy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate shall be expected to:

  • Leading in the formulation, development, implementation, and review of MPCs’ corporate, strategic marketing plans and business objectives.
  • Review business development strategies to ensure alignment with overall corporate strategies.
  • Developing plans for new market entry, existing market expansion, and resource management.
  • Managing new businesses and regional relationships to increase market share through.
  • Developing and evaluating strategies to leverage relationships and networks for business opportunities and partnerships.
  • Developing collaborative links within and with other similar institutions on matters of market research and product or service development
  • Defining research scope and objectives to understand the business environment.
  • Advising Management on all professional business development and marketing expertise matters.
  • Business Development and Marketing human resource development.
  • Leading the delivery of solutions to clients’ needs with other departments.
  • Ensuring the production and submission of business development and marketing-related reports

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • The successful candidate must have a Masters degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics or its equivalent from an accredited and recognized institution.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics or related fields from an accredited and a recognized institution.
  • Chartered marketers will have an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 6 years of work experience at senior management level in a reputable organization.
  • He/She must be assertive and insightful, and should possesses strong business acumen that enables him/her to seek out new growth opportunities.
  • He/She must demonstrate capabilities to keep abreast of market trends, industry events, competitors and clients’ needs in order to pursue growth opportunities.
  • He/She must be a team player, a good communicator and should possess analytical skills.

REMUNERATION-PACKAGE

The successful candidates shall be offered a negotiated performance-related contract for three years with an attractive salary, benefits, and gratuity package commensurate with the seniority of the position.
