Malawi Blood Transfusion Service (MBTS) is a Trust that was established to provide a safe and adequate supply of blood and blood products to meet the needs of all patients in authorised hospitals in Malawi.
It is committed to meet its objective of collecting, processing and testing all blood from voluntary non-remunerated blood donors in low-risk populations to international standards, in a cost-efficient manner.

Donor Attendant- One Position
Job Summary
A Donor Attendant is responsible to and receives direction from the Nursing Officer and works under the supervision of the trained staff at the mobile or static clinic.
Qualification, Experience and Competencies
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE)
- Customer focus with good communication skills at all times
- Safety awareness
- Quality awareness
- Good working standards
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the area for blood donation session is clean all the time and abides by all hygiene principles
- Helps with setting of the clinic.
- Assists blood donor in filling Donor History Form.
- Helps prepare blood packs and specimens for temporary storage and transportation in cold chain boxes.
- Handles waste appropriately.
- Helps with packing of equipment in preparation for loading the vehicle.
- Helps stock the vehicle in preparation for the clinic.
- Helps offload the vehicle at the venue.
- Clean and tidy up the equipment on the mobile team as well as static clinic e.g. chair sides, donor beds, etc.
- Ensure that the area for blood donation session is clean all the time.
