THE ORGANISATION
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) is the governing body of football in Malawi and was founded
in 1966 with its main mission of effectively organizing, administering, developing and controlling the
game of football in consistent with FIFA rules and regulations in a manner that will continuously
improve the standard of football in the country. FAM is affiliated to FIFA, CAF, COSAFA and the
Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS). FAM manages all Malawi national Football, Beach, Futsal
teams for both men and Women. FAM seeks to hire drivers for its regional associations and Super
League of Malawi secretariat offices located in Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu.
Title of the post: Driver (4 Positions) – Grade B2
Reporting to: Administration Manager
Job Summary
This position is responsible for safely operating a vehicle and providing administrative, customer
service support to assigned routes. The successful drivers will be assigned to among others
providing transportation, repairs, safekeeping and general maintenance of FAM vehicle(s). The
successful candidate will be offered a 3-year renewable performance-based contract.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the office driver for Football Association of Malawi to support the daily operations
of the office - Monitor the vehicles condition, perform checks before operating the vehicle on a daily basis
and notify the Administration Manager of any technical problems that exist in the assigned
vehicle; - Update logbooks and maintain clear-cut records of the vehicle movements and indicate the
purpose for which the vehicle was used; - Ensure that the vehicle is roadworthy, insured, and meets the official requirements and
documentation of the Directorate of Road Traffic and Safety Services; - Monitor the routine travel requests made by FAM staff, National team officials and hiring
visitors. - Provide administrative support to the office functions, which include undertaking messenger
tasks, clerical duties, purchasing office supplies, paying bills, photocopying, banking duties etc., - Act as a vehicle registration proxy for the Association
- Work under the general supervision of the Administration Manager and in close coordination
with other drivers in the team - Any other duty assigned from time to time
Requirements, must have;
- A minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE);
- A valid driver’s license with category: Code C1, those with Code D with Category PG will
have an added advantage; - Recent police clearance;
- Aged between 35 – 45 years
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in driving vehicles in other organizations;
- A good track record of safely driving vehicles and experience in general office administration
duties such as clerical duties, banking, etc.; - Must be familiar with the major cities and roads of Malawi;
- Good record keeping and reporting skills;
- Good communication skills in English (verbal and written), and the ability to communicate
effectively with the officers; - Computer skills that include the use of MS Office packages;
- Basic mechanical/handyman skills;
- Flexibility to work extra hours when required, willingness to drive outside of Malawi and be
honest and reliable; - High sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact, and the ability to work with people from different
nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
Remuneration
FAM will offer a competitive remuneration par commensurate with qualification and experience
within its structure.
