Application deadline closed.

Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the position of teachers and a driver at Marymount Catholic Secondary School.

BRIEF BACKGROUND OF THE SCHOOL

Marymount Catholic Secondary School was opened on 29th January, 1963. The school is located on the Southern part of the plot of land owned by the Catholic Diocese of Mzuzu. It is situated along the Chimaliro Road, about eight kilometres from the hub of Mzuzu City. Although the school is based in Mzuzu, its catchment area covers all districts in Malawi.

The Diocesan Bishop of Mzuzu, His Lordship Jean Louis Jobidon was concerned about the plight of girls in Malawian communities and therefore put forward the idea of opening a girls` secondary school in the Northern part of Malawi. The Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception welcomed the idea to run the school and received a grant from the Ministry of Education to build the school. At its inception, the Catholic Church and the Ministry of Education jointly ran the school where a total of seventy students were enrolled in forms one, two and three.

However, in 1992, the school with the approval of the Diocese seceded from the Ministry of Education due to several factors such as the need for the proprietor to be part of the decision making in the running of the school and the selection of students. The Diocese of Mzuzu took charge of the school by appointing an Education Commission represented by a Board of Governors. The Board is the policy making body and is responsible for employment and the general supervision of the Management of the school. The Management Team headed by the School Manager (Head Teacher) takes care of the daily operations of the school.
