Job Description

Ekwendeni College of Health Sciences (ECOHS) a constituent college of the University of Livingstonia
is a CHAM institution whose proprietor is the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia. It aims at training Health care workers within Christian Principles and Professional Ethics. The College strives to promote a conducive educational environment in order to facilitate quality education for health workers in Malawi. In order to achieve this, the College wishes to fill the existing gaps in the academic section. Therefore, Ekwendeni College of Health Sciences invites suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions;

FACULTY OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY

POSITION: External Examiners (2 positions)

Requirements

  • Must be a holder of at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Midwifery with a bias in Nursing
    and Midwifery Education obtained from a well-recognized institution.
  • Those with Master’s Degree will have an added advantage
  • Registered with the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi
  • Minimum of three years of teaching or clinical experience
  • Matured and committed Christian.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To advise on the assessments for each module.
  • To ratify and approve all examination question papers.
  • To review and ratify marking schemes for individual papers, assessment criteria and model
    answers.
  • To confirm the standard of marking by scrutinizing scripts for each module and coursework
  • To review on the standards of achievement of candidates and the comparability of the achievement to standards elsewhere.
  • To make known any causes for concern in relation to academic standards achieved by candidates, the standards of modules and the standards of awards to be made.
  • To provide independent opinion where there is a significant unresolved difference between the
    marks awarded by the first and second markers on any script or piece of work.
  • To advise the Subject Examination Board on appropriate action where the marks for any
    module are significantly outside the normal pattern.
  • To attend, or conduct, oral examinations, where applicable
  • To attend meetings of the Subject Examination Board, and participate fully in decision making.
  • To submit moderation reports to the Dean of Nursing and Midwifery
  • To work on any related assignments
