Community Energy Malawi (CEM) is a leading energy access organization committed to advancing sustainable renewable energy solutions across Malawi.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Finance and Administration Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial operations and ensuring effective administrative support for our projects. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and a passion for sustainable development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial and Resources Management: Oversee financial transactions, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Ensure accuracy and compliance with financial policies and procedures. Ensure proper storage, usage and recording of organizational resources as well as fleet management
- Accounting: Maintain accurate financial records, manage accounts payables and receivables, and prepare financial statements and reports. Also support in the preparation and conduction of audits.
- Administration: Provide administrative support to the team, including managing office supplies, coordinating meetings, and handling correspondence.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations and policies, and assist with audits and financial reviews.
- Project Support: Assist with financial planning and reporting for ongoing projects, and support the team in budgeting and resource allocation.
- Human Resources : Assist in recruitment processes and Human resources Management issues including payroll preparation, reconciliation of staff time sheets etc.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Those with Bachelor’s degree will have an added advantage.
- At least 2 years of experience in finance and administration, preferably in the non-profit or energy sector.
- Strong knowledge of financial management practices, accounting principles, and administrative procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software and tools (e.g., Excel, sage, QuickBooks)
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
