Orant Charities Africa (OCA) is a non-governmental organization serving in rural communities of Malawi. It was founded and registered as an NGO in Malawi in 2014. OCA serves in Malawi through healthcare and implementing development programs. It operates in the following thematic areas; Healthcare, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Education, Agriculture, Business Development, and Energy and Environment. Title: Finance Officer

Reports to: Finance Manager

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing bookkeeping and finance management for Orant Charities Africa. The Finance officer will supervise the cashiers to ensure compliance of all accounting procedures. The job holder is expected to perform the following duties and responsibilities;

  • Maintaining records of monthly financial transactions.
  • Assist in preparation of financial reports by collecting and posting transactions into the system.
  • Processing invoices, receipts and payments and assessing departmental liquidations
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with all requirements of the Malawi Revenue Authority and remits appropriate taxes accordingly.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all accounting entries.
  • Assisting with budget preparations and monitoring expenditure in accordance with the approved budget.
  • Making bank deposits periodically.
  • Properly managing petty cash and online payments
  • Filing documents and ensuring proper organization in the office.
  • Demonstrate highest degree of integrity and confidentiality in all transactions
  • Providing accurate, reliable and honest information to the Finance Manager
  • Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a busy office or NGO setting is preferred
  • Be conversant with QuickBooks accounting software
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
