Paramount Lodge, an Executive Lodge located in Mzimba and Mzuzu, is an ideal place for comfortable accommodation, meetings and conferences. Paramount Lodge is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the vacant position as follows:

FINANCE OFFICER (1 Position) – Position is Tenable in Mzimba

We are looking for an organized, efficient Finance Officer with an eye for detail and a high level of accuracy who can work under minimum supervision. The successful candidate will be reporting directly to the Chief Finance Officer.

Candidate should be based in Mzimba

Role Overview:

As the Finance Officer, you will work closely with our finance team to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations. From processing transactions to assisting with financial reporting, your contributions will be essential to our success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing accurate daily and month-end accounts with comparison to forecasts.
  • Preparing income statement and statement of financial Position for senior management.
  • Assist in preparing budgets, business planning including projected room revenue and forecasts.
  • Ensuring statutory legislation is followed regarding VAT, PAYE, WHT, Tevet Levy, Tourism Levy, e.t.c.
  • Following up on late payments, reporting bad debts and keeping an eye on the cash flow.
  • Maintain accurate and current financial records.
  • Processing cash payments and cash receipts.
  • Perform month-end close reconciliation and financial analysis.
  • Review daily cash balance and maintain cash flow projections.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation for all accounts.
  • Review supplier invoices and monthly statements to ensure all expenses are processed in the accounting system.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and daily reports.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.
  • Assist with payroll processing and related tasks.
  • Handle inquiries regarding billing and payments.
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end closing procedures.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • The candidate must have an ICAM Diploma with at least two years of accounting experience.
  • Be professional and courteous with strong computer skills, comprehensive knowledge and understanding of accounting procedures and principles including accounting software knowledge, high level of accuracy and efficiency, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to behaving ethically in the workplace,
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong understanding of financial reports, budgets, and reconciliations.
