POSITION: FINANCE OFFICER – 1 Post

Location: Lilongwe

We are looking for a skilled Finance Officer to manage financial reporting and compliance for SolarAid. This is an opportunity to contribute to a social enterprise that is working to eradicate energy poverty in rural communities.

Job Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Develop financial reports summarizing trends to inform business planning.
  • Support the preparation of the annual budget in collaboration with other departments.
  • Consolidate departmental activity plans and set budgets.

Reconciliations & Data Monitoring

  • Perform bank and other reconciliations, including cash advance, payroll, and accounts payable.
  • Monitor data entry and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Supervise Finance Assistants to ensure compliance with financial policies.

Payments & Cash Management

  • Process daily petty cash transactions and ensure timely replenishment.
  • Review and upload payments to the bank.
  • Maintain accurate financial transaction records.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare monthly budget vs actual reports for departments and cost analysis reports.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and support audit processes.
  • Identify and report financial discrepancies.

Human Resource & Team Development

  • Supervise and provide training for Finance Assistants.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for team members.

Key Working Relationships:

  • Work with the Research and Learning team for business performance analysis.
  • Support Programmes teams in aligning financial management with projects.
  • Collaborate with Regional Managers to improve financial tools and processes.

Requirements:

  • Advanced Diploma in Accounting (Degree preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or auditing.
  • Strong data analysis skills with proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Proven experience with financial software (QuickBooks, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
