Key Responsibilities:

A.      Food Commodity Management

Assist Food Assistance Manager in food program implementation including but not limited to procurement of commodities, transportation, warehousing of commodities, registration and distribution to beneficiaries, monitoring and evaluation of food program, and production of accurate commodities tracking and narrative reports to Donors, DMT and Support Offices.

Manage food program staff under his/her portfolio with support from Food Assistance Manager, and represent World Vision in any meetings related to food program as necessary.

Ensure that the programmes pass all audits with minimum risk as well as making follow-ups on the issues that would have been raised.

B. Project Monitoring,

Conduct field visits to ensure that program is being implemented according to the plan and correct and follow up any issues raised by the Audit Teams both internal and external.

Commodity Accountability and  Reporting

Ensure timely and accurate reports which reflect the true picture of the food assistance projects are prepared and submitted to the Food Assistance Manager Ensure all  Food commodity reports (Asset creation and food) -Weekly, monthly, quarterly and EoP are submitted in time

Prepare monthly and quarterly narrative reports as per the agreed scheduled with SOs and Donor

C. Staff Capacity building.

Identifying any training gaps within the food team and working together with other team members carry out training workshops to bridge such gaps.

Assist in the development of training modules for each food aid intervention eg School Feeding, Vulnerable group feeding, Food for Work

Conduct capacity building for all food program staff team including on the spot training whenever such cases arise.

D. Coordination and networking

Consolidate feedback and action points under safeguarding and Protection from different sectors in DMU projects for WV management response and action.

Provide support to ADP programs and the GIK on food implementation with special emphasis on warehouse and logistics, when requested.

Attending national food security cluster meetings when activated during emergencies

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATION ON THE R

  • Minimum Qualification requiredDiploma in Logistics and Commodity Management
  • Experience:   3 Years in Commodity Handling business
  • Preferred: College Degree
  • This position requires a mature candidate, a self-starter, with dedication and ability to work with less or no supervision. Must demonstrate willingness to learn and work with others as a team.
  • Candidates should also have at least 2 – 5 years’ previous experience in a related field.
  • Ability to perform field assignments and willingness to travel for long period of time in difficult terrain, harsh and demanding conditions.
  • Good command of oral and written English.
  • A mature Christian who shows a desire to serve humanity and to strengthen his/her relationship with the Lord.

Extensive exposure to food aid programs (minimum 3 years)

Knowledge of the Sphere standards, Code of Conduct for Red Cross/ Red crescent, Humanitarian Accountability Partnerships (HAP) and other international humanitarian standards

Knowledge of Commodities standards, as defined and set out by DMT

Knowledge of commodities & logistics operations, preferably within WV context, specifically those that relate to food distributions, warehousing, reporting, tracking, monitoring etc. Knowledge of different capacity building initiatives Knowledge of Excel spreadsheet, or Word program, fax and e-mail, Ability to effectively develop rapport and relate to donors, NGOs, counterparts, and government agencies Must be willing to travel and a flexible approach to living conditions.  Fluency in English is essential
