Umodzi Holdings Limited (UHL) is a prestigious domestic brand under the name ‘Umodzi Park and Resorts’ (UPR), situated in the heart of Malawi’s capital city, Lilongwe. UHL is a 100% Government-owned company that boasts properties like the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC), a five-star hotel, and the Presidential Village, which offers world-class accommodation and office rental facilities.
Role Overview:
The Front Office Manager will be responsible for managing and controlling all aspects of the hotel’s front office operations to meet the required standards within budgetary limits. The role is critical to ensuring guest satisfaction and maximizing profit for the hotel. The successful candidate will report directly to the General Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all front office operations, ensuring compliance with hotel policies and standards.
- Manage staff schedules, training, and development to ensure a competent, motivated, and satisfied team.
- Monitor and control costs, including room adjustments, operational expenses, and guest complaints expenses.
- Ensure high levels of guest satisfaction and retention by effectively handling guest feedback and complaints.
- Prepare and present reports on financial performance, guest feedback, and other relevant metrics to the management team.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and achievement of hotel goals.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, or a related field;
- Those with Diploma or Certification in Front Office Operations, Hospitality Management, obtained from a prestigious hotel school will be considered.
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in front office roles is essential, with at least
- 3-5 years in a managerial capacity in a luxury hotel environment.
- Experience in High-Volume and High-End Guest Services;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in multiple languages is a significant advantage;
- Understanding of global hospitality trends and local market dynamics;
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
