We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to fill the post of Inclusive Education Officer.
About Girls -MARZ Project
Concerned Youth Organization, in partnership with Oxfam in Malawi is implementing Girls’ initiative for resilient learning and support in Malawi, Rwanda and Zambia (Girls-MARZ) project with funding from the Scottish Government in Machinga and Balaka where it is targeting 500 female students in district secondary schools and Community Day Secondary Schools. The overall goal of the project is to achieve improved participation, retention, completion and transition rates for girls and women in secondary, promoting of STEM discipline, tertiary and Technical and Vocational education and training. Pursuant to the goal, the project will specifically focus on increasing provision of scholarships and other supportive interventions to remove barriers for young women to access and complete secondary education and transition from secondary to tertiary education and TVET; and increasing girls and women’s enrollment, retention, participation and performance in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects.

Job Summary:
The Project Officer will primarily provide technical support in the implementation of the Project at the local levels. He/she will engage in regular coordination and consultation with the Programmes Manager; provide technical inputs during planning, implementation, and completion of the project; monitor the implementation and progress of project activities; and ensure timely completion of deliverables based on Concerned Youth Organisation’s tools and standards.
The Project Officer – Inclusive Education will play a key role in developing, implementing, and evaluating project activities in Balaka and Machinga. The successful candidate will have a strong background in education, excellent Communication and Community Mobilization skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders whilst embracing networking and collaboration principles.
Key Responsibilities:
a. Planning and implementation of activities that support the completion of project goals and objectives in the target districts.
b. Ensures results-based implementation, monitoring, evaluation and documentation of outcomes of project interventions highlighting their impact.
c. Raise community awareness on girls’ education through various participatory methodologies
d. Design, develop, and deliver educational programs and activities in support of project outcomes and CYO strategic objectives.
e. Conduct needs assessments to identify educational gaps and evaluate program effectiveness.
f. Support Provision of bursaries to girls and young women at Secondary, TVET levels
g. Maintain an up-to-data database to effectively track project performance in relation to key performance indicators
h. Work with government partners, School Management, community members, and other stakeholders to develop and implement and monitor project activities.
i. Build capacity of teachers in pedagogy, Gender Transformative Education, psychosocial counselling and support
j. Provide support in project documentation through photography, lessons learnt, cases studies and stories of change
k. Prepare activity and periodic project reports as required from time to time.
2. Networking, Partnership and Advocacy
a. Coordinate closely with other members of staff such as thematic program officers and relevant project coordinators in delivering programs in the project areas.
b. Develop linkages with stakeholders such as local government agencies, civil society organizations and relevant local structures towards building a support network for the project in the impact areas.
c. Attend and participates as the official representative to partners’ meetings, workshops, trainings, conferences related to the organization’s work.
Requirements (Qualifications, Skills and Personal Qualities):
a. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Educational Psychology, Curriculum
Development, or a related field.
b. Experience: At least 3 years of experience in education, educational program development, or a related field.
c. Excellent Community Mobilization, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
d. Strong program development, implementation, and evaluation skills.
e. Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
f. Strong analytical, self-starter and with problem-solving skills.
g. Proficiency in Microsoft Office
h. Passion for education and lifelong learning.
i. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
j. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
