Job Description

The Diocese of Karonga through the Education Desk office has the mandate of providing quality, efficient and effective education to the people it serves within its Jurisdiction. It is for this reason that The Diocese of Karonga intends to open a primary school for Boys and Girls (Co-education) that will operate as a private school to commence at the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic calendar.
This school will beknown as ST. Dennis Primary School. This school is located in Karonga district,between the District Education Managers Office and Karonga CCAP Church, (whereformerly there was Lusubilo Private school). Following this background, the Diocese would like to recruit suitable qualified persons for the following positions:

HEAD TEACHER (1 post)

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Promoting quality education and maintaining standards.
  • Promote discipline at the school.
  • Preparing lessons and delivering them in class.
  • Checking and marking schemes and records of work.
  • Checking lesson plans for all teaching staff.
  • Promote education friendly environment for learners at school.
  • Conducting general assembly.
  • Ensuring good relationship between the school and the community.
  • Conduct teacher and support staff appraisals.
  • Coordinating and directing school activities or programs.
  • Interpreting and implementing government policies.

QUALIFICATION:

  • Must possess a T2 certificate of education from a recognized Teachers Training College.
  • Must have knowledge of Catholic social teachings/Values.
  • Must have at least 10 years of experience in teaching and as head teacher.
