We are looking for a passionate and suitably qualified candidate to fill the following vacancy.

 Job Title: Health and Nutrition Officer

Job Specification: 

The Health and Nutrition Officer shall manage the health and nutrition Department delivered by Sparkle within the country health provision framework whilst ensuring responsiveness to the health needs of the target populations in target communities in partnership with relevant health authorities and institutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Health Program Delivery

Oversee the daily operations of the Sparkle Clinic, ensuring the provision of high-quality healthcare services.Manage clinic staff, including clinical technician, nurses, and support personnel including conducting the performance management in line with the Sparkle standards.Ensure compliance with health regulations and standards in the clinic including the Malawi Standard Treatment Guidelines and other treatment guidelines.Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of clinic services and implement improvements as needed.Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality of all data collected from the beneficiaries of the clinicPlan and conduct health promotion activities and educational campaigns to raise awareness about preventive health measures, healthy lifestyles, and nutrition practices 2. Stakeholder Management
Manage the relationship with the key stakeholders including Zomba DHO, Matawale Health Center.Working closely with the community officer, identify any emerging health issues in the community and provide insightsBuild and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government health departments, NGOs, and community organizations.Engage with stakeholders to align health and nutrition initiatives with community needs and priorities.Represent the Sparkle Foundation at meetings, conferences, and forums related to health and nutrition.Facilitate collaboration and information sharing among stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness.Advocate for the health and nutrition needs of the community and secure support for program initiatives. 3. Nutrition
Oversee the operations of Sparkle Farm, ensuring sustainable agricultural practices.Manage farm staff and coordinate activities related to crop production and livestock care.Implement and monitor farm safety protocols.Collaborate with agricultural experts to improve farm productivity and sustainability.Ensure the farm produces nutritious food items for the feeding program and clinic.Promote hygiene practices, sanitation improvements, and access to safe drinking water to reduce the risk of waterborne and communicable diseasesOverseeing feeding program in all sparkle sitesWork hand in hand with the agriculture officer to ensure that all crops growing at the farm are in alignment with the sparkle feeding programme.Monitoring the nutritional status of children enrolled in the Sparkle Foundation’s feeding program.
 4. Vulnerability PathwayDevelop and implement strategies to identify and support vulnerable individuals and families within the community within the health and nutrition domainCoordinate with social workers, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to provide comprehensive care and support as required for identified health cases.Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions aimed at reducing vulnerability and improving health outcomes for beneficiaries.Ensure that the health and nutrition programs are inclusive and accessible to all, particularly the most vulnerable populations.Advocate for policies and practices that address the root causes of vulnerability and promote long-term resilience.

Qualifications 

  • First Degree in Public Health or any other related filed
  • Those who have a Certificate in Clinical Medicine will have an added advantage
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience of working in similar post
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends as might be required.
