Job Description

Zomba Diocese Health Commission operates under the Social Directorate of the Catholic Diocese of Zomba. Its mission is to advance the healing ministry of Jesus Christ by promoting human life and providing preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services in a holistic manner. This is achieved through participation in collaborative networks and partnerships, aligned with the needs and capacities of the communities, and in accordance with Catholic core values and principles, to ensure the delivery of the high- quality services, the Commission is seeking to recruit a motivated and experienced individual for the following vacant position.

Job Title: Health Coordinator

Reports to : Executive Director of Social Directorate-Zomba Diocese

  • The key responsibilities of this position will include:
  • Ensure the quality of all health (training) services and programmers implemented by the church.
  • Provide efficient and effective administrative services.
  • Lead resource mobilization efforts for the Health Commission.
  • Work closely with the finance department to track budget expenditures and act as the budget holder.
  • Approve all fund requests in alignment with budget lines
  • Develop work plans and begets to ensure the effective implementation of commission activities.
  • Perform regular supervisory visits to health facilities.
  • Ensure adherence to ECM-specific and general policies.
  • Conduct regular performance appraisals for facility managers.
  • Interpret and enforce ECM’s conditions of service.
  • Compile and submit reports to donors and diocesan authorities.
  • Serve as a resource person on health systems and reforms.
  • Act as a resource person on the health system and reforms.
  • Act as the secretary of Zomba Diocesan Health Commission Board
  • Attend to relevant stakeholders’ meetings.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

A degree, diploma, or certificate in Health, Development, Project Management, or a related field (e.g., Medicine, Nursing, Health Science, Social Science, or Business Administration) from a recognized institution is required. Retirees and those with at least a minimum of 10 years of practical experience in the heath sector will be given additional consideration.
