Job Description

The University of Blantyre Synod is a private, fast –growing university, established by the Church of Central African Presbyterian (CCAP) Blantyre Synod in 2016. It was accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) in 2021. Currently, the University is offering the following qualifications: Bachelor of Education (Humanities); University Certificate in Education; Master in Theology, Bachelor of Arts in Theology; Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing; Bachelor of Commerce in Business Management; ABMA Diploma Programmes (Levels 4-6): Diploma in Information Systems; Diploma in Computer Engineering; Diploma in Human Resource; Diploma in Business Management and Diploma in Community Development.

The University of Blantyre Synod (UBS) is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons to be considered for the positions of Registrar, Human Resource Officer and Lecturer in Accounting and Finance.

HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER

The Human Resource Officer reports to the University Vice Chancellor and works closely with the Accounts department and faculty Deans.

The Human Resource Officer is responsible for: 

  • Overseeing and optimizing the comprehensive staff recruitment process, including the formulation of job postings, execution of structured interviews, production of contracts and seamless onboarding of new personnel.
  • Ensure preparation of staff management system and payroll Approve annual staff leave.
  • Ensure that employees apply for their leave days as appropriate and ensure that they report back on time.
  • Ensure that annual performance appraisals are done by departments and faculties.
  • Monitor the implementation of staff development plans.
  • Ensure that the University organizational chart is updated.
  • Proactively address employee concerns and grievances, fostering a positive organizational culture.
  • Preparing staff hand books e. g, Work Place Policy, Conditions of Service, Discipline and Displinary procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Labour Laws of Malawi.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A minimum of Bachelor of Human Resource Management or its equivalent.
  • Proven knowledge in Labour Laws of Malawi
  • Proven expertise in talent acquisition strategies and proficiency in advanced recruitment software.
