Job Description

The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) is a statutory body established under the Communications Act (Cap. 68:01 of the Laws of Malawi) to regulate the country’s communications sector.

Under the Communications Act of 2016, MACRA is mandated to regulate and monitor the provision of communications services and ensure that, as far as it is practicable, reliable and affordable communications services are provided throughout Malawi.

The Vision of MACRA Communication Services for a digitally transformed Nation.

In line with its quest for skills development and upliftment within the communication sector, MACRA has embarked on a program to create opportunities for internship and attachment for graduates to get practical work experience which will complement their competence and employability. The Authority, therefore, is looking for persons to be considered for internship. The details of the internship vacancies are as follows:

HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER (INTERN) (2 POSITIONS)

Key Duties and responsibilities

  1. Assisting in recruiting and selecting people with the right competences
  2. Assisting in coordination of staff development
  3. Updating record forms for human resource management
  4. Administration of medical insurance for MACRA
  5. General Management of life insurance and pension policies for MACRA
  6. Preparation of payroll for junior levels of staff
  7. Assist Coordination of the Performance appraisal exercise
  8. Assisting in management of Staff welfare matters (pension, medical, leave, insurances and grievance etc.)
  9. Producing Human Resource reports
  10. Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Requisite Qualification

  1. Graduates of Human Resource Management, Administration or related field from a recognised College or University.

The ideal candidate for the position is expected to have the following:

  1. Good interpersonal skills.
  2. Good computer and research skills
  3. Knowledge in Computer-excel and word
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  5. Ability to work as part of a team.

DURATION OF INTERNSHIP

The interns shall be engaged on a 1-year contract with a possible extension depending on the needs in the departments.
