Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The IT Manager is responsible for the support of all Information Technology (IT) and Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) services, systems, networks and devices that the Hospital staff utilize to achieve CURE’s Mission.  He or she is responsible for installing, configuring and monitoring computer hardware, software and networks in accordance with CURE International’s standards, diagnosing faults and solving technical problems, and training end-users in the use of technology solutions.

The position is part of the network-wide IT support structure, serving as the first level of user support to Hospital staff. The position reports to the Operations Manager of the Hospital and receives technical guidance and oversight from CURE International’s Head of Technology and the Technology department.

This position is also required to supervise any IT Support Specialists, if any of these positions are filled.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Technology Deployment and Provisioning

  1. Deploy and provide support for LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and VPN systems.
  2. Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware and peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with the CURE International IT standards and project/ operational requirements.
  3. Configure and deploy desktop & laptop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, tablets, smartphones, and software solutions.
  4. Develop and maintain documentation of deployment, installation and configuration procedures.
  5. Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.
  6. Create, update, disable and delete user accounts and user access permissions per request.
  7. Implement technology, security, data backup & privacy best practices and process improvements across the Hospital, as prescribed by CURE International’s Technology department.

Technology Maintenance and Support

  1. Support all IT functions across the Hospital, including:
    1. Enterprise applications (includes communications, collaboration, electronic medical records (EMR), inventory management, human resource, financial management and accounting systems and tools)
    2. Physical servers, virtual machines, desktop & laptop computers, and mobile devices
    3. Network and security/access administration
    4. Information management and protection
  2. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs, such as backups.
  3. Administer servers, virtual machines, desktop & laptop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, WiFi access points, phones, tablets, smartphones, operating systems and software.
  4. Perform regular security monitoring to identify and remediate possible security risks or intrusions.
  5. Ensure automated daily backup operations are functioning correctly, and that all required files and system data are successfully backed up, both to local external and offsite cloud storage.
  6. Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
  7. Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted users and services in a timely manner, sharing regular status updates.
  8. Apply computer operating system security patches, updates and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.

Supervision and Training

  1. Provide leadership, mentoring, coaching, and training to IT Support Specialists (if any of these positions report to the IT Manager position).
  2. Provide Hospital staff coaching and training in the use of all CURE’s technology solutions.

SECONDARY DUTIES:

  1. Participate in 1-on-1 and team meetings within the Technology department as needed.
  2. Contribute to strong teamwork and information sharing within the network-wide IT team, between Hospital-based groups, and across the organization.
  3. Collaborate and communicate cross-functionally in support of One CURE, One Mission.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience in related background.
  2. Minimum of 5 years experience in IT support, systems administration and information management in a professional organization, those with experience working in healthcare setting will have an added advantage.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  1. Strong knowledge of IT support, various Operating Systems (including Microsoft Windows and Linux), business and collaboration applications, Electronic Medical Records Systems and IT policies, procedures and standards
  2. Information processing and numeracy abilities
  3. Accuracy, attention to detail and timely project and service delivery
  4. Security conscious approach to provision of IT services
  5. Ability to establish priorities and proceed with objectives with minimum supervision
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  7. Ability to teach technology to end-users, with patience
  8. Google G Suite administration and support (Preferred)
