The National Economic Empowerment Fund Limited (NEEF), a licensed Microfinance Institution
wholly owned by the government of Malawi that provides financial services focusing on empowering
Malawians economically. NEEF is seeking the services of mature, ambitious, professional Malawi
nationals with a passion for results and respect for ethics to fill a vacant position of the:
INTERNAL AUDIT MANAGER
(GRADE NF3) – ONE (1) POSITION
Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this job is to lead the audit functions of NEEF and to facilitate the development and implementation of independent and objective assurance and advice on financial services to the Board and management as well as to ensure that accounting systems, standards and practices are in line with internationally recognized accounting procedures and requirements.
H/She will be reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare the Risk Based Annual Audit Plan that outlines the activities to be undertaken by the Internal Audit Department during the year.
- Develop Audit Engagement Plan before conducting any assignment.
- Perform Audit work in accordance with the approved audit manual and international professional standards.
- Carry out independent assessment of the application and compliance with the established
company policies, procedures and regulations. - Review, appraise and advise accordingly the soundness, adequacy and efficiency of accounting,
financial, business operations process, ICT, HR and other internal controls and detect irregularities and illegal acts. - Provide investigative services, as the need arises, and if possible, recommend changes on policies and procedures arising from the case(s) investigated in order to strengthen the NEEF’s internal control management system.
- Ensure all working papers are completed and in order – initiated, cross-referenced, dated, work
descriptions and clearance. - Write summary of audit results and conduct the exit discussion with the Auditees.
- Publish reports within the standards set in the NEEF Audit Manual.
- Manages relationship with external auditors and working with the Finance Manager to ensure
adequate arrangement for smooth external audit process - Monitoring implementation of the audit recommendations.
Qualifications
- ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CPA IIA or equivalent qualification and a Bachelor of Accountancy or Finance
- Master’s degree in finance or accounting will be an added advantage
- Five years post bachelor’s degree experience in a similar position.
