Job Description

Position Context

Mwaiwathu Private Hospital invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Internal Audit & Risk Officer tenable at the Hospital along Chileka Road in Blantyre.

Position Context

Reporting to the Internal Audit & Risk Manager, the Internal Audit & Risk Officer will assist in providing independent, objective assurance, and consulting activity designed to add value and improve the Hospital operations. The Internal Audit & Risk Officer will assist in ensuring that the Hospital accomplishes its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

Specific duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Testing the internal controls of the Hospital and recommend improvements
  • Identifying risky areas of the business and advise the hospital on how they can be mitigated
  • Carry out follow up audits to verify whether recommended improvements have been implemented
  • Examining the Hospitals records and documents to detect fraud and errors
  • Examine that the Hospital is compliant with all legal requirements
  • Examine compliance of hospital procedures and policies by all employees
  • Test compliance with the budget

Educational Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Auditing
  • At least three years hands on experience in a related field.
  • Must be registered and paid up member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
