OVERVIEW

POSITION : Internal Audit Supervisor

Grade : D1

Organisational Unit : Internal Audit

Reporting To : Internal Audit Manager

Duty Station : Head Office

Job Type : Full-time

Main Function

  • Responsible for effective execution of internal audit engagements, and providing technical expertise, guidance, and support to the audit team

Specific duties

  • Developing audit objectives, plans and scope consistent with the departments charter, organizational objectives and the assessment of audit risk and client needs
  • Developing and maintaining productive client, staff and management relationships through individual contacts and group meetings
  • Communicating with those who need to know about audits and ensure an interface with personnel throughout the organization particularly those being audited
  • Facilitating audit processes by resolving issues and questions during the day-to-day progress of audits
  • Supervising audits and review work performed to ensure adequacy of audit scope, adequacy of testing performed and accuracy of conclusion reached
  • Reviewing and approve detailed audit programs to each audit to assure that no specific tests or activities necessary for the audit are overlooked
  • Keeping the Internal audit manager informed regarding the status of audits that are in progress
  • Participating in special projects and investigations as assigned
  • Providing guidance to the assurance audit teams with risk assessments, planning and reviews of processes
  • Providing training, coaching and guidance to internal audit staff in conducting audits and on other audit related issues

Qualifications and Experience

The candidate must have:

  • A Degree in Internal Audit, Accountancy or any other related fields,
  • Professional certifications such as CIA, or ACCA,
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience
  • Attributes and Competencies
  • Ability to supervise and lead a team
  • Good interpersonal, time management and communication skills
  • Knowledge of internal audit principles and standards.
  • Knowledge of Malawi Taxation, Customs and Excise, and Value Added Tax Acts.
