YONECO is inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for various positions for their Radio Station as follows: –
Job Title: Intern Presenter /Producer
Required Candidates: 4
Department: Radio
Reporting Line: Deputy Chief Producer
Employment Status: Paid Intern
Location: YFM Zomba
Purpose:
The Producer will be responsible for the production of radio programmes. The major areas managed are: Script writing, Material gathering and Programme Production and presentation
Essential Duties
The Producer is responsible for:
- Create and develop radio programmes
- Manning continuity shifts
- Oversee the technical and organisational aspects of the entire programme production
- Generate and research ideas for programmes
- Source programme contributors
- Record and edit materials into usable segments for the programme production
- Write and develop scripts
- Present programs live on-air if need be
- Make follow-ups if their programmes have been logged in various radio stations
- Brief technical team on the recordings they have made
- Archive programme copies
- News anchoring
- Produce monthly progress reports of their programmes
- Represent the organization, when delegated to meetings and conferences
Required Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge Skills and Competences
- Should possess at least a Diploma in journalism, or any other related discipline
- Work experience of not less than two years
- Expertise in adobe audition
- Excellent command of both English and Chichewa
- Have excellent writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to pitch content for different audiences and platforms
- Be able to build rapport and draw information from different people
- Be able to work effectively under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
- Must be a learning and flexible person that can work in any environment when assigned
- Computer literate

Purpose:
The Reporter will be responsible for the news production. The major areas managed are: News interviews, News writing and Voicing news reports.
Essential Duties
The Reporter is responsible for :-
- Writing news stories
- Conducts news interviews,
- Represents the station at industry and community functions and events. Voicing news reports
- News anchoring
- Cultivate news sources
- Mentoring interns
- Support with programme production
- Production of special reports
- Writing news for online.
Required Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
- Minimum of Diploma in Journalism or Communication, with not less than 2 years work experience.
- Well-modulated and pleasant voice and the ability to speak persuasively and intelligently.
- Possesses editorial skills and news judgement
- Skills in news writing and reporting
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Good command of written and spoken Chichewa
- Be able to work effectively under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
- Be computer literate.

Reporting Line: Chief Technician
Employment Status: Paid Internship
Location: YFM Zomba
Purpose:
The Technician will take care of the technical aspects of broadcasting for YFM.
Essential Duties
The Technician is responsible for:
- Editing and mixing down radio programmes and news bytes
- Monitor sound quality of programmes
- Determine technical requirements of productions
- Setting up studios for recording
- Provide technical advice to the programme producers and reporters
- Maintain recording or broadcasting equipment
Required Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
- The Technician should have a minimum of Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or other related field with 2 years’ experience in a busy environment
- Expertise in adobe audition
- Excellent command of both English and Chichewa
- Be able to work effectively under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
- Have the ability to mix programmes creatively.
