Malawi Against Physical Disabilities is a non-governmental organization which provides free medical rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities in Malawi through physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, provision of assistive devices and many more. We run outreach programs through regional offices in Blantyre, Zomba, Lilongwe and Rumphi. We also run the Kachere Rehabilitation Centre situated in Blantyre, which is the only referral facility for persons with disabilities in the country. We also produce assistive devices in workshops placed in the regional offices.
We are looking for suitable candidate to work as above in our ICT department to help us achieve our goals and objectives in fulfilling our mandate.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated IT Officer with expertise in software development to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing technical support, managing IT systems, and actively contributing to in-house software development projects. This is a permanent position tenable at MAP Head office.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Technical Support:
- Provide frontline technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Diagnose and resolve technical problems in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Software Development:
- Collaborate with the development team to design, code, and test software solutions.
- Participate in the entire software development life cycle, from concept to deployment.
- Software Maintenance:
- Update, modify, and enhance existing software applications as needed.
- Ensure software compliance with coding standards and organizational policies.
- Security Management:
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect the organization’s data and IT infrastructure.
- Conduct regular security audits and respond to security incidents.
- Network Management:
- Configure and troubleshoot network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Monitor network performance and optimize as needed.
- User Training:
- Conduct training sessions to educate end-users on best practices for using IT systems and applications.
- Documentation:
- Create and maintain documentation for IT processes, procedures, software development projects, and configurations.
- Develop user guides and manuals to assist end-users.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement IT solutions and contribute to software development projects.
- Work closely with vendors and third-party service providers.
- Technology Evaluation:
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and assess their potential for implementation in the organization.
- Provide recommendations for technology upgrades and improvements.
- Problem Resolution:
- Investigate and resolve IT-related problems reported by end-users or identified through monitoring systems.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in IT support, system administration, and software development.
- Knowledge of IT systems, networks, and security protocols.
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., PHP, Javascript, Java, Python, C#).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional, software development certifications) would be a plus.
