Job Description

COTTON COUNCIL OF MALAWI was established by the Cotton Act of 2013 with the mandate to regulate, develop and improve the cotton industry in Malawi. The Vision of CCM is to become a progressive regulator effectively contributing to the development of a sustainable cotton industry.

The Mission of the council is to contribute to the growth of the cotton industry through development of standards and regulations, ensuring adherence to fair trade practices by value chain players, promotion of sustainable innovation and information sharing through a competent and committed workforce.

CCM wishes to recruit suitably qualified, experienced and dedicated individuals to fill the following posts:

POSTS:

Post: IT Technician (1)

Duty Station: Head Office (Lilongwe)

Reports to: Knowledge and Learning Manager

Purpose of the post

The IT Technician shall be responsible for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of computer hardware and software to ensure the smooth running of computer systems. He/she shall be the primary point of contact for IT support within the Council.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installing and configuring computer hardware and software to ensure usability.
  • Ensuring electrical safety standards are met
  • Repairing or replacing damaged hardware.
  • Repairing the entire system to enable compatible software on all computers
  • Installing and upgrading anti-virus software and hardware.
  • Providing support to users and being the first point of contact for error reporting.
  • Conduct daily backup operations.
  • Performing tests and evaluations on new software and hardware.
  • Manage technical documentation.
  • Establish good relationship with all departments and colleagues.

Academic and Experience

  • Diploma in Computer Science or Business Information Systems
  • At least 2 years’ work experience in computer networks and systems maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in database programing and software installation
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
