BACKGROUND
The Malawi Agricultural and Industrial Investment Corporation (MAIIC) Plc is a local development finance institution (DFI) incorporated in November 2018 under the Company’s Act of 2013. The company was established to bridge the long-term financing gap in Malawi and spearhead private
sector development. MAIIC is a commercially oriented DFI set up to play a leading role in socio-economic development in the country.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following positions:
Junior Analysts (2)
Position Summary
The Junior Analyst will be responsible for originating, developing, and leading the due diligence, as well as providing technical support to prospective customers.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Identify and evaluate potential projects that align with the institution’s objectives and strategies in the Agricultural, Mining, Energy, ICT, and infrastructure sectors.
- Conduct market research and analysis to assess the viability and potential economic, developmental, social, and environmental impact of proposed projects.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop project proposals.
- Lead the due diligence process for potential projects and prepare comprehensive project proposals,
- Present project proposals to management.
- Identify and address any issues or challenges that may arise during project execution.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop innovative solutions to promote financial inclusion and economic empowerment.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to financial intermediation and financial inclusion
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Economics
- Minimum of three years of proven experience in a similar role in the financial services industry.
- Proven experience in financial analysis, project management, and business development, preferably in the financial sector or development finance
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High proficiency in financial modeling techniques
- Fluency with Excel formulas and functions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- In-depth knowledge of big data and data analytics systems to realise the importance of data-driven decisions over intuition-driven decisions.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards applicable to the organisation.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Attention to detail.
