Baobab Lodge and Spa is a cozy and vibrant lodge specializing in providing affordable and
comfortable accommodation for backpackers, city travelers and international guests. With a
welcoming atmosphere, we focus on creating memorable travel experiences for our diverse
clientele. We are seeking a dedicated and organized Junior Property Manager to join our team and
help ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Job Summary:
The Junior Property Manager will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the lodge,
including guest services, property maintenance, and handling reservations and payments. The ideal
candidate will have strong communication skills, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to work
independently to ensure that all guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Services & Customer Relations:
○ Greet and check in/check out guests, ensuring they feel welcome and informed about the lodge and local amenities.
○ Respond promptly to guest inquiries via phone, email, or in person, ensuring a high level of customer service.
○ Address guest concerns and handle complaints in a professional and timely manner.
○ Provide local recommendations, tips for backpackers, and travel guidance to international guests.
Daily Operations Management:
○ Oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of guest rooms, common areas, and facilities, ensuring a high standard of hygiene and comfort.
○ Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance staff to ensure timely and efficient service.
○ Ensure the lodge’s policies and rules are followed, maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests.
Payments & Reservations:
○ Process guest payments and manage cash flow for the lodge, ensuring accurate and timely transactions.
○ Handle reservations through online booking systems and manage walk-in bookings.
○ Track financial transactions, provide receipts, and assist with basic reporting on occupancy, revenue, and expenses.
Administrative Support:
○ Assist with supply management by ensuring necessary amenities and consumables are stocked.
○ Help with marketing efforts (e.g., social media, guest reviews) to promote the lodge and attract new guests.
○ Maintain accurate guest records and update databases as required.
Qualifications:
● Previous experience in hospitality or property management is a plus, but not required.
● Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
● Excellent communication skills, especially with international guests.
● Basic understanding of booking systems and property management software (or willingness to learn).
● Ability to handle cash and payments responsibly and accurately.
● Problem-solving skills and ability to handle guest complaints professionally.
● Highly organized with the ability to multitask and work independently.
● Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
Preferred Skills:
● Strong command of the English language
● Knowledge or interest in travel and hospitality
