Job Description

Overview

Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitable qualified Malawians to fill the following vacant positions tenable at Zomba District Council. The applicants must be willing to work in rural areas and subjected to Malawi Public Services Regulations (MPSR) from time to time.

POST: LEGAL OFFICER

GRADE: H (M5)

QUALIFICATION: Applicants must be in possession of Bachelor’s degree in law obtained from accredited institution and must be admitted to the BAR.

DUTIES:-
Provide legal advice, interpretation and guidance on regulations and policies to the Council
Plan and handle all legal matters of the Council Conveyancing
Handling cases (litigation)
Drafting and negotiating various legal documents or instruments
Attending to Public Liability Claims on behalf of the Council
Reviewing and providing legal advice on various legal Documents and instruments
Conducting research on legal issues
Draft and update Council by-laws
Any other duties that may be assigned from time by the Director of Administration.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
Successful candidates must be willing to be deployed in remote areas.
