Job Description
AHL Group Plc invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Legal Services Manager at its Head Office in Lilongwe.
Position Function
The successful candidate will report to the Company Secretary/Legal Counsel and be responsible for
providing legal advice, ensuring regulatory compliance, providing company secretarial services, and
representing the Company and its Subsidiaries in all Courts in Malawi.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The main duties and responsibilities of the Legal Services Manager will include the following:
- Drafting Court documents and representing the company and its subsidiaries in all Courts of law;
- Providing legal advice to the Group and its subsidiaries;
- Drafting and reviewing facility documentation, tenancy agreements, contracts and other legal
instruments; - Reviewing cases and providing sound legal opinions, advise and recommend appropriate legal
solutions; - Regulatory compliance and ensuring compliance with the Tobacco industry laws, workplace
regulations and laws in general; - Liaising closely with the Subsidiary heads to identify legal service requirements for the smooth
delivery of legal solutions; - Provide company secretarial services to the Subsidiary Boards.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Degree from an accredited University.
- Admitted to practice Law in the Supreme Court of Malawi, High Court and Courts Subordinate
thereto - Possession of a valid legal practitioner’s licence
- At least six (6) years post admission experience
- Demonstrable experience in providing effective legal advice
- Demonstrable experience in handling litigation

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to clearly present complex situations;
- Excellent trial advocacy skills;
- Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework of the tobacco industry;
- Excellent legal research and analytical skills;
- Relationship management skills and ability to lead and work with teams
