About the Role
As part of the MEL team in Malawi, your role will help collect high quality data and developing insights that support strategy development to reach our 2030 vision. In addition to supporting survey execution, you will pay special attention to ensuring that our data quality processes work well through backend quality checks and collaboration with the MEL field team.
You will be a part of the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) department and you will report directly to the MEL Specialist. This role is based in Lilongwe and is onsite with travel opportunities across Malawi.
Responsibilities
- Track team’s performance through goal dashboards – Error checks, Field Feedback Receipts, and Back check scores.
- Spend time in the field to investigate and supervise enumerator performance, understand gaps in survey flow, and identify possible gaps in data quality.
- Lead follow-up actions in collaboration with field and office team. This can include identifying patterns across errors, delivering follow-up training to enumerators, guiding communication in field team meetings, and designing survey guides and training material.
- Lead quality improvement processes in the team and establish refine SOPs for the same to guide smooth execution
- Program complex surveys in CommCare and refine the same by leading the execution of “break the survey” exercise and implementing corrections.
- Develop dashboards highlighting key results and findings from the surveys.

Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:
- 2+ years of experience in Monitoring and Evaluation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Social Work, Agriculture science or other relevant social science
- Experience designing and structuring complex surveys on
- CommCare or any other data collection platform
- Good knowledge in Microsoft Suite (e.g. Excel, Word, and Powerpoint).
- Fluency in English and Chichewa are required for this role.
