Marketing and Communications Officer

Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) Commercial Division has new employment opportunities as part of a drive towards improved customer-centricity and brand repositioning. We are inviting young, dynamic, versatile, and highly motivated individuals to join our Business Development team to develop programmes that will promote the brand and strategically position it to align with new business opportunities. Reporting to the Head of Business Development, the main purpose of the job is to implement the brand and communication strategy for the company consistent with the best customer service and experience. The ideal person should have a great grasp of digital marketing, marketing analytics, communications and public relations. They will drive the development of marketing and communication strategies and implementation plans, execute comprehensive marketing campaigns, oversee product launches, and manage the MTL brand.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plan and implement direct marketing approaches including targeting, personalisation of messages, content adaptation, and measurability of marketing initiatives.
2. Design and develop creative and engaging content for marketing purposes, including product and service launches, customer engagement, and brand awareness.
3. Develop and execute a digital marketing strategy, covering social media, MTL website, and other digital marketing channels.
4. Design and execute communication plans and communications materials with the company key stakeholders, both internal and external.
5. Provide business intelligence through data analytics on marketing campaigns, product performance and customer insights, and develop a dashboard and reports for management decision making.
6. Ensure the brand meets expectations through monitoring market trends, global trends, and customer feedback.
7. Drive initiatives, training and awareness that deliver change towards continuous improvement in customer centricity.
8. Analyse customer feedback continuously and make recommendations on how to proactively adapt to customer demands.
9. Manage the MTL brand portfolio.
10. Sets the MTL customer service standards and ensures that customer care touch points are performing optimally.

The successful candidate should have the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or Business Administration or its equivalent.
  • At least two years’ experience working with copywriting, content creation, brand management and communications.
  • A firm understanding of how to leverage marketing tools and techniques to increase the visibility, profile and reputation of an organisation and brand.
  • A good grasp of digital marketing, social media, traditional media, SEO/SEM, and impact of technology on communications and collaboration.
  • Knowledge and application of data analytics for business intelligence.
  • Knowledge of measuring the impact of marketing and communications and adjusting accordingly.
  • Should be a strategic and creative thinker.
  • Should have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Have good project management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate activities across multiple stakeholder teams. Should be enthusiastic and diplomatic.
