Job Description
Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitable qualified Malawians to fill the following vacant positions tenable at Zomba District Council. The applicants must be willing to work in rural areas and subjected to Malawi Public Services Regulations (MPSR) from time to time.
POST: MEDICAL OFFICER
GRADE: HH/M5
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be in possession of a Bachelor of Medicine, bachelor of Surgery degree obtained from accredited
institution, must be registered with the Medical Council of Malawi and must also have completed the internship program.
DUTIES:
Manage various medical and surgical conditions in line with National Treatment
Conduct regular ward rounds and in-patients as necessary;
Conduct regular or scheduled out-patients ‘clinics;
Participate in the training and supervision of clinicians and nurses (Student’s
internships) under his/her control;
Conduct surgical procedures of generic surgery and gynaecology/obstetrics;
Ensure compliance with minimum standards of clinical services by all staff under him/he including infection
prevention guidelines and coordinate the preparation and maintenance of up to date patient medical records,
Perform routine monitoring of health indicators and using data in planning and management of health services.
EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
Successful candidates must be willing to be deployed in remote areas.
