Tovwirane Organisation is a local NGO based at Mzimba Boma undertaking interventions in Women Empowerment, Gender Based Violence Prevention, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, Gender and Governance, HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support, Environment, Health, Education, Livelihoods and Child rights among others.

Position: Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant-Intern

The incumbent will play a key role in ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation of our programs, as well as promoting accountability and learning across the organization. Reporting to the Programs Manager, , the successful candidate will work closely with program staff and partners to develop and implement robust MEAL systems and processes that contribute to evidence-based decision-making and program improvement.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks, including indicators, data collection tools, and reporting mechanisms, in collaboration with program teams.
  • Coordinate data collection activities, ensuring that data is collected systematically and accurately, and that ethical and gender-sensitive approaches are applied.
  • Lead the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to assess program performance, identify trends, and measure outcome and impacts.
  • Facilitate regular review meetings with program staff and partners to discuss MEAL findings, share lessons learned, and make recommendations for program adaptation and improvement
  • Support the design and implementation of baseline surveys, midterm reviews, and end of project evaluations, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strengthen accountability mechanisms, including feedback and complaints mechanisms, to ensure that beneficiaries and other stakeholders have opportunities to voice their concerns and provide feedback on program activities
  • Promote a culture of learning and disseminating best practices, success stories and lessons learned
  • Provide technical support and capacity building to program staff and partners on MEAL-related matters, including training on data collection methodologies and tools

Minimum Requirements

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field, such as Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Social Sciences, Demography, Public Health, or related field. With minimal experience working in monitoring, evaluation, and/or accountability roles, preferably in health and development fields.

Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and present quantitative and qualitative data effectively

Proficiency in MEAL methodologies, tools and software (DHIS2, ODK, SPSS, STATA)

Excellent communication and inter personal skills, with ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders

Demonstrated commitment to accountability, transparency, and learning principles

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
