Part-Time School Counselor
Duration: 1 year (renewable)
Job Description:
We are looking for a compassionate and qualified Part-Time School Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will support students’ emotional, social, and academic well-being, helping them navigate school life and personal challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling for students.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support students’ mental health.
- Help students set academic and personal goals.
- Identify and address learning or behavioral issues.
- Lead workshops on topics like stress management, conflict resolution, and career guidance
Reporting Lines and Collaboration.
Reports To:
- School Head Teacher:
The School Counselor often reports directly to the School Head Teacher for overall supervision, program development, and accountability regarding student welfare.
Collaborates With:
- Teachers: To identify students in need of counseling services, share insights on student behavior, and assist in creating individualized learning or support plans.
- Parents/Guardians: To discuss student progress, address any behavioral or emotional concerns, and coordinate family support for the student.
- School Administration: Collaborates with the administrative team (e.g., Vice Principal, Dean of Students) to implement school policies and programs related to mental health, wellness, and student discipline.
- School Nurse or Clinician: For students with health-related concerns that may affect their mental or emotional well-being.
- External Therapists or Agencies: Refers students to external specialists or works with outside counselors when necessary for specialized care or intervention.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
- Certification in school counseling,
- Experience working with children or adolescents.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Passionate about promoting student well-being.
- Willingness to work within the Catholic traditions and Jesuit ethos and values of LISS
