Photojournalist
The post is tenable at Blantyre Office and the job holder reports to the Technical Journalist.
Job Brief
The job holder takes and produces creative pictures, videos and audios that add value to news content.
Duties and Responsibilities
i. Content development
- Participates in picture/story idea generation.
- Takes and edits pictures and video clips that accurately reflect events.
- Produces story/event/feature pictures professionally.
- Writes comprehensive stories and captions.
- Assists Librarians in picture identification and retrieval.
ii. Digital first
As indicated in 1 (ii) above.
Required Skills and Competences
- Creativity
- Self-starter
- Problem solving ability
- Good communication and organisation skills
- Good research skills
- Good computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and applicable technical areas.
Qualifications and Work Experience
i. A minimum of Diploma in Journalism from a recognised institution. Those with special training in photography and digital production qualifications will have an added advantage.
ii. At least three years’ relevant work experience. Those with good writing skills will have an acided advantage.
