Organization Background
The African Institute of Corporate Citizenship (AICC) is a non-governmental organization whose main mandate is to promote the role of business in building resilient communities and sustainable businesses through partnerships. Since its establishment, ACC’s mandate has expanded to stimulating and supporting private sector investment in the Malawian agricultural and rural markets with a specific focus on the lower end of these markets.
Its operations are national in scope and stretches across the agriculture sector and the organization works primarily with those partners in the sector that are committed to engaging the rural poor as their beneficiaries and consumers. AICC aims at addressing systems and institutions that can drive competitiveness and job creation in specific sectors by using a market development approach. The interventions by the organization build on private sector development strategies that seek to strengthen enterprises, business relationships & services, market structures, and the business environment so that they channel more benefits to the poor and create more and better jobs effectively. Since its inception, AICC has developed and continue to host the Cotton, Rice, Legumes, Sesame and Livestock Value Chains.
The organization is seeking an experienced professional to contribute their high level of expertise to the organization and the program through the following position:
1. Platform Manager (1)
The Position Description:
The Platform Manager is accountable for the identification, planning, coordination, monitoring and reporting of the entire strategic programme and platform. 5/He serves as a key resource for the organization and will maintain an overview of the projects/platform and will provide the framework for initiating, developing and rolling out programmes and change initiatives.
The Platform Manager will ensure that good practice is applied to platform management and governance and will also manage key dependencies (e.g. enabler plans) and ensure that accountabilities and responsibilities are understood.
S/he will report directly to the Head of Programmes.
Position Responsibilities (key responsibilities):
The following will be tasks to be performed by the Platform Manager
- Leading the Project team and supporting them to work efficiently and effectively, taking responsibility for the overall delivery plan of the project including all the relevant stakeholders
- Ensuring that platform plans, specifications, roles and responsibilities and the necessary communications are defined and completed to standard for all platforms within the programme of work
- Developing platform scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Develop a detailed project plan to track progress of activity implementation.
- Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in platform scope, schedule and costs
- Working collaboratively with the M and E team to develop effective evaluation strategies for the project in order to support project success and generate learning for the system.
- Managing the platform budget within available resources, acting as an authorized approval manager, and ensuring that all requests are properly approved and activity delivery is aligned to work plans and budgets.
- Developing and maintaining partnerships with other organizations to further the platform strategic goals.
- Perform risk management Assessments to minimize project risks.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
Education and Experience
- Master’s Degree in Social Science, Development studies, Social Work and Community Development or its equivalent required.
- At least 5 years’ working experience in a fast paced, multi-tasked environment with strict deadlines.
- Experience in project management and working with the private sector through a Value Chain Develop approach
- Effective time management skills, self- motivated, critical attention to detail and deadlines.
